Students helped an elementary-aged student make crafts  as part of the Common Book Service Project on Aug. 28.

The Center for Career & Civic Engagement, along with staff from The Home Depot, hosted the event to remind students of the common book, "Make the Impossible Possible." Author Bill Strickland will speak on campus about his dreams and the path to finding a passion on Oct. 7 in Byrnes Auditorium.

Federal and State Grants Boost Public Service Outreach
Winthrop faculty and staff are off to a solid start in winning state and federal grant support this academic year, after having logged one of their most successful years ever in 2009-10. Winthrop brought in $16.6 million in grants in 2009-10, as well as another $9.5 million in July and August.
