B.F.A.
/ Printmaking Concentration
The
printmaking program at Winthrop is designed around a thorough technical
education in the traditional techniques of etching, lithography and the
relief processes of woodcut and linocut. This, combined with a
challenging questioning environment towards subject-matter and its
relevance to contemporary art and the student's personal interests, is
founded on strong drawing skills. Less traditional techniques
(monotype, image-transfer with solvents, screenprinting) supplement the
program.
Image-text
relationship and the ideas sequential imagery are also investigated.
Printmaking involves techniques which are utilized in both the fine-art
and commercial-industrial worlds. It is not surprising, therefore, that
students have gone on to work in a variety of fields, including
commercial screenprinting, digital imaging, graphic design, as
exhibiting fine artists and teachers in both high school and in higher
education.
