Gallery Up presents the Annual Winthrop Silent Art Auction Student, Faculty and Alumni Work Up for Bid on Friday, December 6, 2008.
11/10/08 Gallery Up will present the Annual Winthrop Silent Art Auction December 1 - 6, 2008 at The Gettys Art Center featuring the work of university students, faculty and alumni. Join us for an evening filled with food and drink, live music, performance art and open artist studios at the Gettys Art Center, located at 201 E. Main Street in downtown Rock Hill, SC.
The auction will include photography, paintings, printmaking, jewelry and sculpture with minimum bids historically starting as low as $5.
Auction items will be available for viewing beginning 10:00 am the morning of December 1. The artist reception will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm - bidding will end on December 6 at 9:30 pm.
“We are partnering with ACE Projects (Artist and Civic Engagement Projects) at Winthrop to make this event more collaborative than ever,” said Gallery Up’s co-owner Tamara LaValla. “There are so many talented artists, both student and professional, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to acquire a piece of work at affordable prices. To be part of an evening teaming with so much creative energy is simply a bonus!”
Bidders can enjoy a host of other exciting art offerings including local musicians performing live in the courtroom and a Winthrop student art show at The Loading Dock Gallery (on the first floor of the Gettys Art Center) which presents a collection of work reflecting the theme "shelter". The Loading Dock show will open at 8:00 pm in junction with the Annual Winthrop Silent Art Auction and a performance piece by Winthrop graduate Jon Prichard. Also that evening - Marge Moody’s 3rd Annual Small Works show in her Gettys Art Center studio, work for sale at the Rock Hill Pottery Center (fist floor Gettys Art Center), the annual ChristmasVille festival and the Vernon Grant Stanta exhibition hosted at the York County Arts Council.

Located on the 2nd floor of the Gettys Art Center at 201 East Main Street in Rock Hill, SC, Gallery Up is free and open to the public Monday–Friday 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday by appointment.
