Undeclared Major Advising

Whether you are totally unsure of your future major or simply trying to decide between two fields of study, you can work toward your educational goals as an undeclared major at Winthrop University.

Faculty advisors throughout the University are available to provide help with academic concerns, including answering questions about course schedules, dropping courses, transfer of credit, and petitions.

Undeclared majors should follow the Touchstone Requirements in selecting courses to take each semester.  Approved courses for these requirements are listed in the Undergraduate Catalog online at www.winthrop.edu/recandreg/catalogs/online.htm. In addition, Degree Checklists provide a tool for undeclared majors to use in monitoring progress toward completion of the Touchstone Requirements.  Copies of the Degree Checklists are available online as well as in the Student Services Offices of the individual colleges.

The Touchstone Program is Winthrop University’s distinctive foundational academic experience. Students employ courses ranging from 46 to 58 credit hours to achieve their Touchstone Goals (sometimes referred to as General Education Distribution Requirements).
