Based on years of feedback from faculty and chairpersons, the
general education committee identified limitations of the single
application form (Application to Include a Course in the General
Education Program) and has now created simple, self-guiding
application forms for each component of the Touchstone Program.
Furthermore, we are now ready to start recertifying courses that
have already been initially approved; the recertification process
serves as our SACS-required periodic review of courses included in
the Touchstone Program. Simple recertification forms have been
developed for each component. If questions arise or if you
have suggestions, please contact the General Education Committee
(gnedcommittee@winthrop.edu) or Dean Gloria Jones
(jonesg@winthrop.edu,
803-323-3900).
**Windows 2010 is needed
to complete this form. An easy, free upgrade is available by
contacting the IT helpdesk at ext. 2400 or
helpdesk@winthrop.edu .
On the recertification form, departments confirm
that the learning outcomes and related goals are communicated to
students through the course syllabus. A variety of formats are
possible, but a number of departments are finding that this
sample format (click here) below is
both effective and easy to copy/paste.
