Hannah Floyd Flatworm Named by Biology Majors J. Bursey and L.
Graham to Remember an Exceptional Student.
The flatworm, named hannahfloydae ("Hannah Floyd's Flatworm"),
was discovered by J. Bursey and biology professor Julian
Smith, III in sand along the shoreline at low tide near
Emerald Isle and on Oak Island, NC.
