Mission Statement
Welcome to the Undergraduate Research Office. The Winthrop University Undergraduate Research Initiative (WUURI) supports a student-centered
learning environment that fosters student research, scholarship, and creative activities. The initiative encourages students and faculty mentors
to collaborate in the design and implementation of projects and the dissemination of results.
Office Hours
The
Undergraduate Research Office is currently operating under
summer hours. If you need immediate assistance, please contact
Dr. Dwight Dimaculangan, the director of Undergraduate
Research at 323-6424.
Events
Scholars Day: Honors Colloquium, ONCA Recognition
Ceremony, and Undergraduate Research Celebration will be held
April 20, 2013.
McNair applications are being accepted for the 2012 cohort.
WISE 2013 Summer Internship and Scholarships for the 2013-2014
Academic Year Applications will be available November 12, 2012.
English Department's Undergraduate and Graduate Research Conference
will be held March 1-2, 2013, 8th annual conference.

2012 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)
As part of the Summer Undergraduate
Research Experience (SURE), Winthrop University students
worked with faculty over the summer on cutting-edge research
projects in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics,
geology, and mathematics. The SURE program included research,
special invited seminar speakers, and collaborative
interactions, ending with a research symposium. Furthermore,
student participants presented their research accomplishments
in a special poster presentation session at the DiGiorgio
Student Center in September.
