Year End Survey
The TRiO-SSS Program at Winthrop University is one of over 900 Student
Support Services program on college campuses across the country. TRiO is
an academic support program designed to increase the academic
performance, retention rates and graduation rates of program members.
The TRiO Program promotes academic excellence and gives members the
tools necessary to get the most out of their undergraduate education to
graduate and seek employment and/or attend graduate school or
professional school.

TRiO Background
The United States is
committed to providing educational opportunities for all Americans,
regardless of race, ethnicity, or economic circumstance. In
support of this commitment, Congress established programs to fulfill
this mission.
These programs, known as TRiO Programs, are
funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. Other TRiO
programs include Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, the Ronald E.
McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, Veterans' Upward Bound,
Upward Bound Math/Science, and Educational Opportunity Centers.

serve 160 participants at
$231,550 annually and an institutional contribution of $61,328.
