Moi Navarro w/ Maya Solovey

An up-and-coming voice in Indie Rock Music, Moi Navarro is an independent artist in the music industry based in Los Angeles, California. Over the years Moi has gained a prominent fan base that reaches regional, statewide, nationwide, and worldwide. His diversity is more than just skin-deep, as his music is interwoven with influences of funk, rock, soul, folk and jazz. Moi's ballads are emotional and heartfelt as they tell a story and invoke tremendous feeling, portraying sincere transparency, letting you see into his soul.

Recording artist Maya Solovey's new album FORTE brims with that exuberant American sound: colossal drums, cinematic strings, grand percussive pianos, rollicking guitars, tasteful electronics, and most notably Maya's full-bodied beatific voice, which sounds as if were made from silk and ache. Solovey's origins extend through much of the American catalogue: from Motown to Soul, onto piano-driven Pop, to the thud and swagger of Funk and Hip Hop, while even blending in some Psych-pop and Folk configurations. She has lived in Spain and Ecuador, and she sings in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. And what makes this vibrant collection of songs even more memorable is that it was recorded, produced, and mixed by her live-in boyfriend, two-time Grammy Award Winner, Bassy Bob Brockman (Notorious BIG, Christina Aguilera, Bob Dylan).

Comedian Trevor Boris with Spoken Word Artist Katie Wirsing

In recognition of National Coming Out Month, DSU is bringing LGBT artists comedian Trevor Boris and spoken word artist Katie Wirsing to Winthrop. Trevor Boris has come a long way from the farm he grew up on near Winnipeg, MB. He is one of the stars and producers of MuchMusic's hit show Video on Trial, has starred in numerous standup specials including One Night Standup on LOGO, and Comedy NOW on CTV, and is about to release his first major label standup DVD for Warner Music entitled 'Trevor Boris: Over Easy'. Trevor is also currently a producer and the head writer on Canda's Got Talent.

Spoken word artist Katie Wirsing's word drawings pour from a channel through her body, linking heart, brain and soul in one wide-open, permalinked thoroughfare to her mouth. But that pretty mouth never eschews any issue, from libido to loss to Grandma and dancing. Busy Katie's team won the National Poetry Slam in 2006, having been a member of four semifinalist National Poetry slam teams. She was Denver city slam champ in 2007, and as well as representing the city at the Women of the World Poetry Competition, she went on to do the same at the Individual World Poetry Slam Competition - twice. She's appeared on Dyke TV, NPR, Femme Fatale magazine, the BBC and countless local radio stations, as well as being the poetic voice on a national commercial for Kasassa Banking.

Reno 911 Comedian Kyle Dunnigan with electro pop band Dr. Seahorse

Kyle Dunnigan is an American comedian. He has appeared in stand-up comedy shows on Comedy Central like Comedy Central Presents, and has made appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. He has also had a recurring role as Trudy Weigel's serial killer boyfriend, Craig Pullin, on Comedy Central's Reno 911!. He was also a cast member on Fox's Cedric the Entertainer Presents. He's also a musician and plays the electric guitar and the piano. More recently he can be seen as a cast member on Howie Mandel's practical joke reality show Howie Do It.

Dr. Seahorse is a collaboration between singer/songwriter Trevor Davis and producer Mark Suhonen. This duo began dreaming up an electronic project together in June of 2007. Trevor would write the songs on acoustic guitar then deliver them to Mark who would program beats and replace the guitar with fresh interesting sounds. They came up with something that is Michael Jackson meets Postal Service meets a Wes Anderson movie and is both emotionally honest and entertainingly quirky. The lyrics speak to your soul while the music dances into your ears and tickles your heart.
