South Carolina Campus Compact
To provide, promote, evaluate, and sustain civic-engagement, service-learning, and community-service initiatives that provide South Carolina college students with the skills needed to be active, engaged citizens in their local communities, the state, the nation, and the world.
Practices such as service-learning, leadership, volunteerism, and activism are united in their educational goal to develop college and university graduates who are prepared not only for a career, but for life as informed and involved citizens at the local, national and international levels; and Community partnerships for civic engagement are formed by all education institutions to attract and educate students, faculty, and staff about the important role their united efforts play in strengthening the lives of individuals, families, campuses, communities, states, and the nation.
Build the capacity of South Carolina’s higher-education institutions to work collaboratively with their local communities to improve the quality of life for South Carolina’s citizens. Support faculty and staff who seek to integrate public service and civic engagement into their teaching and research. Promote and support opportunities for South Carolina college students to engage in service-learning, community-service, and civic-engagement activities that address areas of need and concern for the citizens of the state of South Carolina.
South Carolina Campus Compact achieves its mission through member consultation, conferences, workshops, technical assistance/resources, inter-institutional collaboration, and promotion of public policy. The ultimate goal of South Carolina Campus Compact is to educate college students to become active citizens.
