Compensatory Time, Overtime, and Official Workweek
Policy Description
This policy outlines Winthrop University's philosophy with respect to the accrual of overtime/compensatory time and provides guidance for supervisors and employees for reporting time worked.  Winthrop University complies with the laws and regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and their amendments, the SC State Human Resources regulations and any and all other state and federal laws and regulations related to this section.

Please see the full policy for additional information.
Policy Procedures
Employees who are classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) are required to record hours worked in the electronic timesheet on Wingspan.  As hours are entered into the timesheet, hours worked in excess of 40 in an official workweek are accounted for as compensatory time at a rate of one and one-half time the number of hours worked in excess of 40 during the workweek.  Non-exempt employees may view compensatory time balances on Wingspan.
