Institutional Animal Care and Use

Policy Description

To Remain in Compliance with the Animal Welfare Act (7 U.S.C.2131, et seq.)

Policy Procedures

Prior to submitting a grant proposal for extramural or intramural funding, or as soon as possible thereafter, the investigator must submit an Animal Care and Use Protocol Review Application (ACUPRA). No animals may be acquired for research or instruction before review and approval of the protocol by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

Internal Control Considerations

ACUPRA must be submitted and approved by SPAR.
