![]() Biography Meredith-Joy Petersheim is currently completing her Ph.D. in Political Science at the University at Buffalo. Her dissertation is titled “Foreign Direct Investment and Regional Integration in Emerging Markets.” She has also earned a master’s degree in Political Science also from the University at Buffalo in 2005. She graduated magna cum laude from the SUNY College at Brockport with a BA in International Studies and International Business and Economics.
Ms. Petersheim specializes in international and comparative political economy, along with international and domestic institutions. Last summer, she completed the Jean Monnet International Summer Seminar on the European Union in Rome, Italy. She has presented two papers at the Midwest Political Science Association National Conference in the past and will be presenting a paper at the Southern Political Science Association National Conference in January. She has a manuscript titled “The European Union and Consolidating Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe” under review at Eastern European Politics and Society. In a collaborative effort, Ms. Petersheim has co-authored an article with Gregg B. Johnson and Jesse T. Wasson entitled “The Effect of Divisive Primaries and the Electoral Calendar on General Election Outcomes: Evidence from the House of Representatives,” which is forthcoming at American Politics Research.
She has taught courses in Introduction to American Government, Introduction to Comparative Politics, International Relations Theory, International Organizations, Model United Nations, and Scope and Methods.
