Jennifer C. Hough, soprano, received her Bachelor of Music in Performance from Winthrop University and her Master of Music in Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her teachers and coaches include Dr. Carla LeFevre, Jerry Helton, Dan Pardue, Benton Hess and Dr. Andrew Harley. Ms. Hough is currently part of the voice faculty at Winthrop University, teaching applied voice, vocal pedagogy, voice methods and voice class. Before joining the Winthrop faculty, Ms. Hough taught both private and class voice. She also served as both Technical Director and Assistant Conductor for the Greensboro Opera Camp hosted by the Greensboro Opera Company. Ms. Hough is an active soloist in both recital and oratorio, most recently with the Statesville Oratorio Society and the Lancaster Chamber Choir. Ms. Hough has also been a soloist for the Charlotte Philharmonic Orchestra in Charlotte, NC and sings with the Ethos Consortium, a professional chamber ensemble in Charlotte, NC. Ms. Hough has been seen in a variety of roles, including Pamina from The Magic Flute, Cupid from Orpheus in the Underworld, Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady and Marion from The Music Man. Ms. Hough has successfully competed in a variety of competitions. Most recently, she won the North Carolina Division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Awards in February of 2004. Ms. Hough is originally from Statesville, NC, but now resides with her husband, Michael and their two dogs, Chloe and Emma in Charlotte, NC.
