Jennifer Austin, pianist, received her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from Appalachian State University studying with Rodney Reynerson and Master of Music degree from Winthrop University studying with Eugene Barban. Other former teachers include renowned children’s composer Margaret Goldston, and George Kiorpes. Mrs. Austin serves as instructor of piano and staff accompanist at Winthrop. She is also the director of the Winthrop Piano Academy which presently has 30 students enrolled in private study. Mrs. Austin has performed numerous recitals both as a soloist and accompanist. She is currently serving as the musical coach/accompanist for Winthrop’s opera workshop who recently performed “The Gondoliers” Winthrop’s first opera production in 20 years. Other coaching credits include Carol Hall’s “To Whom it May Concern,” and Mark Brucci’s “The Diary of Adam and Eve.” In addition to her work at Winthrop, she also serves as pianist/accompanist at Stough Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville, NC.
