The Winthrop McNair Scholars program is funded by a four-year renewable TRiO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. $220,000 in federal funding is provided each year to help 25 first-generation, low-income and/or under-represented undergraduates prepare for and succeed in graduate school. This represents approximately 74% of program costs with Winthrop contributing over $75,000 in cash and in-kind matches.

For information about The Winthrop McNair Scholars Program, contact the Director:  Dr. Cheryl Fortner-Wood at (803) 323-2125 or McNair@Winthrop.edu.
