Global Learning Initiative

 Professional Development Grant

GLI Professional Development Grants provide support for faculty and staff to engage in professional development activities that will enable them to add global learning components to their courses. Grant request up to $500 will be considered.

The GLI defines “global” as “local, regional, national and/or international experiences that may differ from one’s own culture” (Proposal, p.1).

The GLI defines a “global learning component” as including, but not limited to, one of the following: “a relevant reading assignment, a video, a reflection or other writing assignment, a class discussion, field experience, a debate, a group presentation, a creative project, a lecture and/or a required co-curricular activity…that meets the (GLI’s) definition of ‘global…’ and is designed to fulfill one of the GLI’s student learning outcomes” (global understanding, global attitudes, global engagement) (Proposal, p. 2).

  • Participation in a webinar or similar on-line instructional seminar; or
