Geography (Minor) @ Winthrop University

Each program leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree requires the completion of a minor in addition to the major program. Students may fulfill the minor requirement with one or more minors of their own choosing. The minimum number of semester hours for a minor if 15, at least 6 of which must be in courses numbered above 299 (2010-11 Undergraduate Catalog, pg 131).

The minor in Geography consists of 15 semester hours of GEOG to include GEOG 101 and at least 6 hours in courses numbered above. 299 (Undergraduate Catalog, pg 151).

Why Minor in Geography?

Geography is a broad, flexible, synergistic discipline that can integrate other areas of study. Geographers approach world problems from a spatial perspective - or sometimes simply stated as the "why of where".

As a result, the Geography Minor at Winthrop can compliment and help build upon the major course of study, providing the student with a broad and solid educational foundation.
