First Look Friday

Orientation leaders will help incoming freshmen prepare for the college days ahead. Leaders selected for the program have been engaged in training so they can be ready this summer to answer questions from families about any number of topics.

• Three ways to visit campus. Did you know that the admissions office offers three unique campus visit experiences?

An admissions presentation, student-guided tour of campus, and a meeting with an admissions counselor are all part of the daily campus visit experience offered weekdays at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The admissions office also offers Preview Days, which are held on Saturdays. Students tour the campus, meet representatives from all academic areas and student life, and participate in small group discussions. The next Preview Day is scheduled for April 24.

First Look Friday provides an opportunity to spend a day in the life of a Winthrop student. Students tour the campus, have lunch in Thomson Café, participate in small group discussions, and attend a unique classroom experience tailored to the student’s academic area of interest. The next First Look Friday visit is scheduled for April 9.

To schedule a visit, call 1-800-WINTHROP or make an appointment online.

• Submit your financial aid application. The time of year has arrived for prospective students to begin submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Winthrop recommends that you submit your FAFSA by March 1. The FAFSA allows students to apply for financial aid packages for the 2010-11 school year. All students who would like to be considered for grants, work-study and loans must complete the FAFSA.
