New Ambassadors

A new crew of Winthrop Ambassadors, 28 in all, were honored March 29 during an induction ceremony. Walter Hardin, associate vice president for facilities management, was honored as an honorary ambassador for his dedicated support of the program. Hardin became the first Winthrop employee to be honored since the late Bill Culp in 1996.

• We’ll roll out the welcome mat. Have a break during the summer and want to visit the Winthrop campus? We’re open for visitors. Summer tours will be offered week days at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and last about an hour and a half.

• Interested in learning more? Thank you for your interest in Winthrop. We hope you will take the time to complete our brief survey. Once we receive your response, your personal admissions counselor will contact you with customized information. Provide us more information.

• IB student scholarships. Students completing an International Baccalaureate (IB) program of study through the senior year of high school with a score of 1250 on the SAT or 28 on the ACT may be eligible to receive a scholarship valued at $5,000. Non-resident students who qualify for the IB Scholarship also are eligible for a waiver of a portion of out-of-state fee. Learn more.

• Get Ready to Enroll at Winthrop. Orientation is a program designed to assist new students and their families in adjusting to life as a student at Winthrop University. During Orientation, new students meet current student leaders, receive information on the academic and social aspects of college life, are advised, and register for classes. All freshmen entering in the fall are required to attend one of four two-day Orientation sessions offered each June. Transfers can opt to participate in an Orientation program or advisement session. Winthrop Mud Challenge

A student team of Mario Joseph Noviello, Sarah Stein, Tony Forte and George Booth placed first in their student group at the Winthrop Mud Challenge on April 4. The five-mile event consisted of a series of military-style obstacles and calisthenics which had to be completed as a team.
