Robin Vosler `00 Communicates Super Vibes in Tampa

Knowing that the Super Bowl was coming to Tampa, Fla., in 2009, Robin Adkins Vosler `00 started networking two years ago.

She attended other Super Bowls and joined athletic and executive organizations to develop contacts in the National Football League.

Her hard work paid off when her public relations firm, Relations PR and Marketing, landed contracts for two Super Bowl events, the Par and Poker Celebrity Challenge for Charity and the NFL-sanctioned 22nd annual Super Bowl Breakfast. Vosler, her two employees and three interns handled press releases, coordinated media interviews and marketed the events.

Athletes in Action and one of only 10 sanctioned NFL events during Super Bowl Week, was a particular challenge, as it moved from a ballroom event for 1,500 people to an arena for 7,000 people. “Luckily, we had amazing people involved with the event, such as Tony Dungy, Bart Starr, Anthony Munoz and Brent Jones,” said Vosler, a Rock Hill native who started her Tampa-based company in 2005.

Her staff also handled the public relations for charitable events for Tampa's two NFL Youth Education Town Centers, which opened following Super Bowl XXXV and currently serve hundreds of children and their families.

The Tampa community is well aware of Vosler’s work ethic and skills. Last month she was named to “Tampa Bay’s 100 Most Influential Business Leaders,” an inclusion which Vosler called a huge honor. Last year she received the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 30 Under 30 Award.

At Winthrop, the former Miss Rock Hill remembers sharing a parade float with the first basketball team to make the NCAA basketball tournament. Another memory involved a remark from one of her journalism professors, Haney Howell, who encouraged his students to do something for themselves after graduating before settling down with jobs and starting a family.

Vosler took the comment to heart, moving to Los Angeles for six months after graduation where she worked for one of the top event planning companies in the world, Along Came Mary Productions. Not only was she able to test her individuality, but Vosler had the opportunity to work celebrity events such as red carpet movie premiere parties and high-profile dinners. “I got a lot out of the experience,” Vosler said. “And it gave me the confidence to succeed.”

As the public relations field has greatly changed over the past decade, Vosler has adjusted with it, incorporating social networking and blogging into PR planning. “I honestly learn a lot from my interns about the latest trends and what they are using,” Vosler said.

She enjoys mentoring young professionals and looks to the future with hope. “Wherever God takes me, if that means big or small or whatever, I am just along for the ride,” she said.
