Casey Munn

When junior Casey Munn reflects on her time at Winthrop, she believes her combined experiences inside and outside the classroom have made her a stronger leader.

“My campus involvement has been the defining factor of my Winthrop experience. Just going to class doesn’t even begin to encompass what it means to be a student here,” said the Camden, S.C. native.

Munn serves as president of the Student Alumni Council, an organization working to connect Winthrop’s past, present and future. Munn maintains that promoting an active student body will ensure an active alumni group.

Munn’s responsibilities consist of helping coordinate student events including Wednesday at the Wall and Garnet and Gold Friday, as well as annual events, such as the Ghost Tours, Dinner with 12 Strangers, and the Ring Ceremony.

This year Munn hopes to incorporate a service component into the Student Alumni Council. “Community service is very important to me. We are responsible for creating a society in which we wish to live, and Winthrop does a great job promoting that lifestyle,” she said.
