Alumni Update

Young alumni gathered during a recent donor event in Charleston, S.C.

Experience a Haunted Winthrop Tradition. The Student Alumni Council will host the annual Ghost Tours on Oct. 30 from 8 to 11 p.m. The tours, which are open to the general public, will depart from the Amphitheatre. Admission is $2 per person, and proceeds are donated to the Loyalty Fund, which supports academic scholarships, the Alumni Association, and faculty awards.

Travel to Tibet. Alumni are invited to travel with art history faculty member Laurie Carpenter for a two-week trip to Tibet in June 2008. The trip, “The Art of Tibet,” will explore the history and culture of Tibet, as well as several other Chinese destinations. For more information, contact Laurie Carpenter or view the International Studies web site.

Save the Date. The Alumni Association is hosting three area events in early 2008 for Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, and Atlanta area alumni. Check out the Alumni Calendar of Events to learn more about your area events.

Call for Volunteers. Winthrop’s Office of Admissions is looking for alumni to help assist with college fairs throughout the United States. Alumni are needed to attend local area college fairs and to meet with prospective students and parents. If you would like to help out or learn more, please contact Debbie Garrick, executive director of alumni relations, or Sylvester Owens, director of alumni programs.

Area Contacts. View updated information on area contacts on the Alumni Web site. Area contacts are the means by which many alumni are able to enjoy Winthrop wherever they are located. If you do not see your area listed--we need you!
