Alumni from 1932 through 1977, particularly those classes whose years end in a 2 or a 7, gather at Winthrop this weekend. As this year’s Golden Girls, members of the class of ‘57 will celebrate their 50th class reunion.

The weekend events include trolley tours and a luncheon Saturday in McBryde Hall where notable alumni will be honored for their outstanding professional and community endeavors. To be recognized are:

• Scott Melton ‘05 of Baltimore, Md., Outstanding Young Alumni Award
• Joyce Hall ‘56, New York, N.Y., Alumni Professional Achievement Award
• Tim Sease ‘87 of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Alumni Distinguished Service Award
• Ann Dotherow Lim ‘57 of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mary Mildred Sullivan Award.

The 2007 celebration will offer plenty of reminders about Winthrop over the decades. The old blue uniforms, rat caps and other memorabilia will be on display.

Alumni may check out the progress of the Lois Rhame West Health, Physical Education and Wellness Center on the west side of the campus and of the new Owens Hall. Student dance and art exhibitions are also on tap.
