Connecting Winthrop's Past, Present and Future Through Alumni Reunions
Alumni Reunion Celebration, which will be held April 20-22, will reunite alumni for class reunions and showcase the Winthrop campus through walking or trolley tours.

The classes from 1932 through 1977, particularly those classes whose years end in a 2 or a 7, look forward to meeting this year. Many of the classes celebrate their reunion parties on campus, in the homes of local alumni and at local restaurants and clubs.

The weekend events also will feature a luncheon Saturday in McBryde Hall. One of the highlights of

this event will be the recognition of notable alumni for their outstanding professional and community endeavors.

“We love to welcome our alumni on campus. Being back often prompts fond memories of their college years and connects them with alumnae they haven't seen in some time,” said Debbie Garrick, executive director of alumni relations.

Alumni Reunion Celebration 2007 will offer plenty of reminders about Winthrop over the decades. The old blue uniforms, rat caps and other memorabilia from when Winthrop was an all-female college will be on display.

There will be trolley tours Friday and Saturday, starting at McLaurin Hall. Tour guides will point out how much has changed, such as construction on the new Lois Rhame West Health, Physical Education and Wellness Center on the west side of the campus, and the new Owens Hall. There also will be a chance to see student dance exhibitions and student

art, as well as events around town as part of the Come-See-Me festival.

On Sunday, there will be a ring ceremony in Tillman Auditorium to present the university’s official ring to students. Now in its fourth year, the ceremony is fast becoming one of the university’s most popular traditions.
