The Alumni Association Wants You …to Vote
In April 2006, alumni will elect two representatives to the Winthrop University Board of Trustees, and some alumni will vote online. Alumni Association Wants You...To Vote Poster

Alumni from class years 1970 – present will vote online. In February they will receive a postcard with information on how to access trustee candidate profiles and with detailed online voting instructions.

Log-in to the online voting portal will be available using the seven-digit alumni I.D. number that is currently found on alumni mailing labels.

Alumni from class years 1969 and earlier will continue to receive paper ballots, candidate profiles and voting instructions in a packet similar to those in previous elections.

“Winthrop has always been on the cutting edge, particularly in embracing technology. We’ve been heading in this direction for several years through our online community, website, e-newsletter and, most importantly, by listening to alumni requests for more online services,” said Martie Curran, assistant vice president and executive director of alumni relations.

The two seats coming open are now filled by Mary Jean Martin `54 and Polly Ford `48. Neither is seeking re-election.

The following candidates are running for one of the two trustee spots: Frances Cunningham Davenport ’59, Margaret E. “Maggie” Gamble ’67, Jay L. Karen ’96, and Jane Lawton LaRoche ’70.

The Executive Board of the Winthrop University Alumni Association approved online voting last fall and implemented the process during officer elections in the spring. Online voting now is being expanded to include the Board of Trustees election.

Alumni may expect to receive voting instructions and materials by mid-February. Detailed information also can be found at www.winthrop.edu/alumni/Trusteeinfo.htm.
