Seniors embrace tradition of giving back to Winthrop

Each year, graduating seniors are invited to join the thousands of faithful alumni who regularly support their alma mater. The Senior Gift Campaign, which ran Feb. 19 - April 15, topped last year’s results and raised $7,000 for Winthrop’s Loyalty Fund. Campaign proceeds will provide unrestricted funding for academic scholarships, faculty commencement awards, the alumni association, and other university initiatives.

Scott Melton served as Senior Gift Campaign chair and led a committee of 15 volunteers, who solicited pledges from their classmates. Volunteer Cecelia Rose Wolff successfully raised the largest sum of campaign contributions totaling $910.

Although the campaign has concluded, gifts can still be made through Dec. 31. To make a gift online, go to www.winthrop.edu/development/default.htm  and click on “Making a Gift.” Or mail donations to: Winthrop University Foundation, Senior Gift Campaign, 124 Tillman Hall, Rock Hill, SC 29733.

For further information about Winthrop’s Senior Gift Campaign, contact Teleia Tollison White, assistant director of annual giving, at 803/323-2153.
