Why Do We Seek Private Gifts?

Occasionally, friends will ask us, "Why do you bother?  Are private gifts really needed?  After all, Winthrop is a state institution."  We'll let you decide after you view the following.

• Since 1993 magazine prices have increased well over 100%;
• The library's current endowment totals less than $500,000; peer institutions are four times as much or more;
• Finally, state budget allocations continue to shrink and are now only a small fraction of what they once were.

We cannot move ahead without your help.  Please look over our website and then call us to see how you can help.  We cannot do it without you.  Join us as we aid the "divine gift of language and letters to outlive us all."
