Access to the Ida Jane Dacus Library


The primary goal of the Winthrop University Library is to support the instructional and research activities of the Winthrop University academic community.  As a security measure, a Winthrop University identification card or a scheduled appointment is required to enter Dacus Library.  Non-Winthrop patrons must either fill out the Dacus Research Application Form (available at the library entrance or see the Online Application Form PDF file) or schedule an appointment in advance.

Access Policy Regarding Students Attending Out-of-State Online Institutions

Admission to Building

The following categories of library users are entitled to on-site use of the Library’s resources and collections:

  1. Winthrop University students currently enrolled.
  2. Winthrop University faculty and staff.
  3. Spouses and children of categories 1 and 2 above.
  4. Anyone with a research need fulfilled only by the specific resources within Dacus Library. Persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
